Monsignor Henryk Micek was appointed parish Priest on 11th June 2021. Monsignor Henryk was ordained as Parish Priest on 7th June 1980 in Gniezno, Poland. He was a Diocesan Priest for 7 years in Poland, and then was sent to minister to the people of Papua New Guinea for 18 years. During his time in PNG, he worked diligently and enthusiastically in parish activities in the diocese of Kundiwa, where he was operating a main station and visiting 22 village communities in the mountains. While he worked actively for the development, agricultural and educational initiatives in various communities in the diocese, he also became a respected and effective lecturer at The Divine Word University, in Madang. On the weekends, he was actively involved in pastoral works and served communities in the province.

In 2005, Monsignor Henryk moved to Australia and became the Administrator Priest of St Patrick’s Parish, at Kogarah. Monsignor completed several major projects at Kogarah including the development of the St Patrick’s Green Retirement and Aged Care Village, the rebuilding of the primary school, the construction of the Parish Hall and the total renovation of St Patrick’s Church, while simultaneously being involved in pastoral, liturgical and sacramental care of the people of the parish. He also attended World Youth Day in 2008 and 2016. He demonstrated his commitment to his parish, his ongoing devotion to the spiritual renewal of the parish while still being actively involved in the primary and high schools and to the hospital.
